A perfect catfish recipe that you will remember for the rest of your life. It is simple yet the final dish is really delicious.

I found this recipe from a catfish pro. You worked hard to catch the catfish using the right bait, angling skills thus it’s only fair that you enjoy your catch using some finest cooking skills. I am not a chef just a regular angler like you but I love food especially catfish and more importantly the catfish I caught.

Ingredients Required for Catfish Recipe

  • Quarter cup Salt
  • Cold Water
  • Buttermilk
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Cooking Oil
  • Old Bay Seasoning

Preparation of the Catfish Recipe

First, if you can keep the fish alive right up until you’re ready to clean them you’ll have a much fresher filet. If you can’t keep it alive at least keep it on ice.

When you go to clean the fish you want to fillet it. I make a diagonal cut from behind the dorsal fin to behind the anal Fin and then take my fillet knife and come straight. The meat under the dorsal fin is really strong that’s why I make the cut behind the dorsal Backflip the filet over and use the fillet knife to remove the skin. It takes a little practice if you can’t do it with the fillet knife skin it with a pair of pliers before you fillet it.

Directions to Catfish Recipe

  1. Now get a bowl and put a quarter cup of salt in the bottom of the bowl and fill the bowl 3/4 full of cold water.
  2. Put the fillets in the cold water and let them soak for at least four hours overnight is even better. The salt will draw out the blood from the flesh.
  3. Now if you’re going to eat them right away soak them in buttermilk for 4 hours. That will remove any strong flavors the fish might have.
  4. Now just cover the fish in breadcrumbs and put it in hot oil and fry it. If you want to get fancy put a little Old Bay in your bread crumbs. The trick to really good flavored catfish is to keep it alive or keep it on ice and clean it as soon as you can.

Recipe Video Description: hey guys today I'm going to be showing you a basic fried fish recipe here are the seasonings that you're going to need you're going to need black pepper we're going to be using salt paprika onion powder and garlic powder so make sure you have all five of those seasonings we're going to be frying the fish so you're obviously going to need some for you I like to use vegetable oil but you're free to use your favorite or you you're going to also need some all-purpose flour and some yellow corn blue we're going to be combining the two add your flour and your cornmeal to a mixing bowl and then you're going to season it alright we're going to be adding our seasoning to our cornmeal and flour and when I combine my cornmeal flour I like to use equal amounts so if you're doubling this recipe make sure you use equal amounts all right gotta make sort of portions all right okay we're gonna add our corn move for recipe, okay so I'm going to whisk flour and cornmeal together first it shows even the glendol then we're going to add our seasoning we're going to add our salt firs followed by our garlic powder our onion powder our black pepper last but not least our paprika then we want to stir our seasonings and okay guys so here are our fish I plan my finish the way I clean all my other meats on the show I just sit it in a bowl with some salt and water and that it's soaked in a saltwater solution and so with all out okay for some of you wondering why I didn't create an egg wash which is basically a gluing agent to help picot and stick better I talked about this in my fried chicken video and my front porch SHOP video you don't need a gluing agent such as battered eggs or better eggs and milk which is an egg wash if your meat is damp because the dampness of the fish is what's going to help the coating stick alright so you don't need egg wash for the coating to stick to the fish so we're going to coat both sides of the fish with the flour-cornmeal mixture and just press it onto the fish like that just like that when the meat is wet the water and dampness of the beach serves as a going agent so you don't need to add no e to it oh really I don't have any way okay so coat each fish and then sit the fish aside both sides and kind of press it into the finish that up a steak better okay as you can see here sticking pretty well so you know a wash so we wanted this sit for fear while our audio is preheating it's our fish okay guys so here's our finish sometime after coating my meats in flour cornmeal or breadcrumbs I like it to sit for 10 to 15 minutes but here's our fish it's been sitting for a while and we're ready to fry it so we're going to move over to the stove now okay guys so you're going to get your pan you're going to place it over I'd say about medium-high heat we're going to add our oil and we're going to let that preheat for about 3 minutes we want to make sure that the oil is really hot before adding the coated fish we're going to add our fish now if your fish is small you can add maybe three at a time but my fish is pretty big so I'm going to add two at a time we want to add the two biggest fish first we're going to let them fry for a few minutes on each side and once they are done you're going to sit them on a paper towel plate to drain the excess for you I don't have any people's all so I'm going to just be sitting them all in okay yeah so we're ever moving our fish and like I said make sure that you said it on a paper towel to drain the excess for you I don't have no paper towels left so I want to sit them on Illumina for you for a while but they are nice and crispy and Center because we did it firearm for long you don't want the meat to be tough but yeah look at those beautiful crispy fry fish they are amazing look at the oil just sizzle ah it's sizzling baby ass isn't like an egg in the summertime look at that so I'm gonna let them sit a little while and then we're going to play them okay guys here is our crispy fry fish I really hope you guys enjoy peace.
